A bridal shower calls to mind a raunchy night out or a male stripper. These needn't be the case, depending on the bride-to-be and her personality.

Bridal showers are a great way for friends and family to literally shower the bride-to-be with their good wishes and support. However, sometimes, a bridal shower might put the bride-to-be on the spot or somehow offend some of the guests. The bridal shower planner, whether the maid or matron of honor or a close friend of the bride-to-be needn't be overly pressured to take on this wedding tradition. Below are simple steps they can take to ensure a unique and enjoyable bridal shower.

Clear The Guest List With The Bride-To-Be

If the guest list didn't come from the bride-to-be herself, the party planner needs to check in with the bride to be. Some party planners might prefer to make it a complete surprise. However, to save themselves from unpleasant surprises, it's best to keep the other elements of the bridal shower a surprise but to ensure that the guest list is something that the bride-to-be sees beforehand. For example, she may want a separate party for her office pals.

Make Sure The Theme Suits The Celebrant

A party planner might go all out for something fun and raunchy but she needs to consider the bride-to-be first. Is she the shy type? Would she rather have a small and intimate gathering rather than a big blow-out? Does she enjoy green jokes and naughty innuendos? It might be a good idea to make sure that the entertainment planned for the shower doesn't involve the bride-to-be squirming uncomfortably in her seat.

Also, bridal showers nowadays don't necessarily have to be all-girl events. Some couples end up having joint bachelor and bachelorette parties. It would be a good idea to check with the bride if this is something that she might like.

Have A Good Mix of Planned Activities And Time To Mingle

The whole shower doesn't have to fit into a program. It would be a great idea to have a series of games planned: some to break the ice, especially if there are guests who have met for the first time, some to draw insights about the wedding, and some to give opportunities for the guests to express their love and support for the celebrant. A part of the shower might also be a good time for the bride-to-be to mingle with friends and family without any time limit or agenda. This might be the part where the guests get to eat a snack as well.

Gift Opening And Tokens

Tokens aren't a must at a bridal shower. However, if the party planners have the budget for it, it would be a lovely gesture. Otherwise, serving food to the guests and having an enjoyable time would be enough. However, a token for the bride-to-be would be a great idea.

The party planners can put a scrapbook together for the celebrant. While the shower is in progress, they can pass along cards where the guests can write down their advice, good wishes, recipes or notes to the bride-to-be. These cards can be collected after the shower and posted on the bridal shower scrapbook.

Gift opening is usually the highlight of the shower. To make gift opening organized, the party planners can already arrange the gifts according to the order they were received and hand them over to the bride-to-be. The party planners should also ensure that someone is tasked to take pictures so that everything is documented and ready to put into the bridal shower scrap book as well.

Bridal showers are a great time for the party planners and the guests to show the bride-to-be their support and love. A bridal shower should be memorable and enjoyable for the bride-to-be, in particular. To ensure this, the party planners just need to remember to clear the guest list with the bride-to-be, make sure the party theme suits the bride-to-be, plan the program thoughtfully and prepare a remembrance token for the celebrant.
